| Simon
Goldsmith from London Environment Centre introduces
the Green Mark. |
It
is being developed by the London Environment Centre
with Business Link for London and supported by SupplyNet
At
its launch at St Katherine's Dock Simon Goldsmith who
runs London Environment Centre outlined the benefits of
the scheme saying that if you run a 'green' business there
are four benefits: saving money, training and complying
with environmental laws, improved environmental management
and creating a good marketing image.
The
Green Mark is a first step not a big stride towards an
accredited system such as BS8555.
"Why
bother?" he said, "Because we can offer you
free support which has been funded through ERDF (European
funding)."
One
of the pilot awards went to Shoreditch business, Loop
Management Services, who run a closed loop solution for
recycling; collecting products and selling recycled products.
The award was received by Dominic Burgess (left).
