Establishing
our boundaries ...
Ancient
records say "Being a populous parish, Shoreditch
was not united with any other..."
Records
of St Leonards Church , the 'oranges and lemons' church
go back to 1746.
"It
retained its parochial Trustees for Maintaining the Poor
until 1868 ..."
And
so it goes on.
So
the boundaries of Shoreditch have been constantly altered
and interfered with. To the extent that we could produce
a whole website about the historical boundaries of Shoreditch.
Hence
our decision to look at Shoreditch Life within the boundaries
we are fairly sure about. The heart of the area, and the
centre of activities, is the triangle (in red on our map).
Then
Shoreditch fringe (main streets marked in blue and others
in green, on our map) makes up the main ground and more
and more development is happening throughout the area.
